From farm gate to plate
Okoia Valley Milk is proud to offer our customers the freshest and cleanest raw milk available.
We have been producing raw milk since 2015 without the use of chemicals or herbicides, ensuring our products contain all the natural health benefits of raw milk, in line with MPI standards. Our farm is located just 10 minutes from Whanganui on 28 hectares of lush New Zealand countryside, with happy cows grazing freely and providing us with over 1000 litres of milk a week. Bring your bottles or buy them at the farm, and fill them up with fresh full cream milk from our coin operated vending machine.
In 2024 we are expanding to deliver to our local community, we look forward to seeing you!
Edo & Anita Mooij
Edo and Anita Mooij started the Okoia Valley Milk farm in 2014 with a dream of providing fresh raw unpasteurized milk to the greater Wanganui community. With only a small herd of 20 cows mixed breeds of Frisians, Ayrshires jerseys and Brown Swiss cross jersey, we are proud to have been providing raw milk for almost 10 years!
At the Start of the 2024 dairy farming season, Mason Mooij and his wife Megan have moved from the small south Waikato town of Putaruru, to come home to the Mooij farm to help with the daily operations and our new and exciting expansion of deliveries!
Mason has been dairy farming since leaving high-school and Megan has grown up on a family farm in the Waikato, they also bring with them 2 kids to live life on the farm.
At Okoia Valley Milk, our focus is on the well-being of our mixed breed herd of cows. We believe in giving our cows the best possible life, which in turn produces the best possible milk. Our cows are only fed the highest quality food, and are raised in a happy and fulfilling environment. From our fields to your fridge, our milk is the best in the business.
"Beautiful milk, like I remember as a kid. Cream on top and no interference from pasteurization"

Raw milk is especially risky for some people.
Raw milk is a risky food for anybody who consumes it.
But the risk is higher for some people such as:
-
young children and babies
-
pregnant women
-
older people, especially those with underlying health conditions
-
people with low immunity
If you choose to drink raw milk, we recommend the following to reduce the risk of getting sick:
-
Buy it only from a registered raw milk supplier, like Okoia Valley Farm, which follows strict hygiene practices and sell raw milk directly from the farm or by home delivery.
-
Keep it chilled while transporting it home from the farm.
-
Store raw milk at 4 degrees Celsius or less in your fridge.
-
Throw it out if it's been left out of the fridge for 2 or more hours.
-
The safest option is to heat raw milk to 70 degrees Celsius and hold it at that temperature for 1 minute. If you don't have a thermometer, heat the milk until it nearly reaches a boil (or scald the milk) before drinking it.
If you're serving raw milk to friends or visitors, make sure you let them know the milk is unpasteurised.
When purchasing raw milk, supply your contact details when asked. You can then be notified if a batch of milk is found to be contaminated with harmful bacteria.
I was recommended this place when in the supermarket and we finally took the trip out. What a neat setup, and we saw the cows out the back. Delicious fresh milk! Yum, we definitely will be back."

"The milk is fresh, cool, delicious dairy milk in a glass
reusable bottle (available on site). The milk is cheap, and easy to obtain. Lovely!"
